Before - 1950’s

About a year ago our search began: the perfect space for our treasures.  Sifting through old buildings, and empty warehouses on the inter-webs, we landed upon this soon to be beauty: Grand Buffet.

The original structure was built in the 1950’s and housed a Cadillac dealership. It later became the home of Grand Buffet, a local Chinese buffet restaurant.

When walking into the building we instantly saw potential in what could be, and started to map out the destruction and reconstruction, and so our 10 month renovation began.

As we started to peel away layers of food grease and floors, ceilings and tiles, we were pleasantly surprised. Through jack hammering we found a treasure from original owner: a car ramp used to bring the Cadillacs in and out of the building.  Furthering the demo, original glass block windows were discovered which opened up the space and flooded the building with natural warmth and light.

After - Public Sale!

In removing just a single layer of the floor, we were able to keep the original integrity and embrace its natural imperfections by just conditioning all 6,000 square feet of it.  Vintage scuff marks, and steel beams alike, as we continued to clear out the space we saw how well the original frame work would showcase our items. With the industrial aesthetic mixed with a mid-century modern details, the transformation, drastic as it may have been, felt kismet upon completion.
